Arrowhead Race Centre Team

Program Overview

The Arrowhead Race Centre (ARC) is a race program designed for Nordic skiers who are interested in racing at the Ontario Cup level or Masters cup level.  This program is a year-round program which begins in June and continues until March of the following year. A calendar of practices, training camps and competitions is attached.     The program is also suitable for Senior and Master level skiers who are interested in training for and competing at higher levels or loppets.  It is also suited to younger athletes who are considering racing at higher levels but are not quite ready to race at the o-cup levels. The minimum age level to be considered for this program is age 11, or graduation from the track attack program.  In order for this program to be effective, athletes would be encouraged to be training at least 3 to 4  sessions of training independently in addition to scheduled practices and camps.  The coaches of this program will provide a training program for athletes to follow if requested.  It is highly recommended that the athlete entering this program be on a year round training program.  Athletes will have access to roller skis, classic skis, slider mats and roller boards.  They can sign them out with the equipment manager.  It is expected that athletes in this program would have proper skate and classic poles and at least one pair of skate skis.  Athletes will also have opportunity to gain expertice in waxing their skis.

The cost of this program includes a spring training camp, a fall training camp and a Christmas training camp.

Coaching support and waxing will be provided at the Ontario Cup Races.  Depending on coach commitment, some coaching may become available at local races such as the Sounder, Muskoka Loppet and the Keskineda World Loppet

In addition to the registration cost, athletes, or their parents are expected to volunteer for three fund-raising sessions (1barbeque, 2 car washes)  Sign up in on the registration form.
