BunnyRabbit and JackRabbit Programs

The Bunnyrabbit Program (child must be 4 as of December 31, 2022 to participate) introduces children to skiing and develops their fundamental movement skills in a FUN way. It provides children with the opportunity to make ski-friends and helps them develop a positive attitude towards skiing and an awareness and appreciation of our natural environment.

If your child is turning 4 during the winter season, and you want to discuss if it would be a good fit, please contact Ally Myers

In the Jackrabbit Program children learn both classic and skating cross-country ski skills and develop a lifelong interest in the sport. Instruction focuses on the ABC’S Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed in a FUN way with games, theme days and ski playgrounds. Good technique, distance and speed challenges are rewarded using the Jackrabbit program awards. For more info visit the Jackrabbits page of the Nordiq Canada website.

Time Slots (Pick one)
Saturday mornings: 10:15 -12:00

Saturday afternoons:  1:00 – 2:45
Sunday Mornings:  10:15– 12:00

We do have use of warming facilities this year such as the visitors centre  however we may shorten or cancel lesson time on extreme cold days.

Program Fees:
Early Bird (up to November 23) – $115
Late Bird (November 23 and later)  – $130

Fee includes:

  • Coaching by NCCP coaches
  • 8 sessions (Level 3 & 4 Jackrabbits have 4 weeks of classic technique and 4 weeks of skate technique)
  • a Jackrabbit hat

Please note that fees do NOT include:
*   ANSC Club Membership ($25  for youth)
*  Provincial Park Ski Trail Pass ($60 for a family season pass)

A club membership fee includes membership with Nordiq Canada and Cross Country Ontario.  It is necessary for insurance purposes.

An Ontario Parks vehicle permit is required to enter the park. However it is no longer necessary to purchase separate passes for each individual skier in the vehicle.   As a result, trail passes are no longer included in Jackrabbit fees.   A winter vehicle pass is $60 + tax and a yearly vehicle pass is $99 + tax and must be purchased from the park.  If you purchase a full year pass now, it is good until Dec 2023!   A vehicle pass is for everyone in the vehicle so you do not need to purchase more than one for your family (unless you arrive in different vehicles). This new fee structure should result in a substantial savings for most families!

If fees are an issue:

  • The Children’s Foundation of MuskokaGrowing Healthy Happy Kids’ fund provides grants to meet the recreational, cultural, medical and emotional needs of the children in Muskoka.  Participants may apply to them for support.
  • Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club has initiated a JackRabbit Bursary Program to sponsor families in need of financial aid.

*NEW*!!!   Arrowhead Nordic Ski Club Ski Rentals for JackRabbit and Track Attack/Lynx

We provide season rentals of classic Cross Country Ski Sets.  The charge is $50 for the season, and the kids have the skis – both at home and for the lessons – for the entire winter.  Skis must be returned at the end of the season.  Our goal is to provide affordable equipment – not to make a profit.  We will revisit the price for the 2022/23 season to see if we can offer the same great deal.
We are also looking into providing skate ski sets this year, but the stock will be limited, and the rental fee will be higher than classic sets.  If it is within your budget to purchase new or used equipment, this is always a good way to go as it is quickly resellable at a good price.  Gear is always in demand.
