Updates for Loppet!

Unfortunately most of our trails are closed to protect the snow. You will not be able to preski the course.

15/30 km racers will race in the opposite direction to what is on the course map posted on our website. They will race clockwise on Lumby (Lumby North loop is not part of the course now), over to Arrowhead lake and ski it clockwise, over a connector to Roe, then over a connector to East River and back down East River return to the stadium. All the turns will be left and in the two way section on East River, you will need to keep LEFT.

5 km racers will ski the Arrowhead Lake Trail. They will NOT ski Lumby. They will be going clockwise around Arrowhead Lake trail. There will be one junction where they will need to go straight while the 15/30 km racers go left, but it will be well signed and we will have course controllers posted there.

Race order - We are not certain of race order yet. Probably it will be 30 km, 15 km then 5 km. We want to avoid having all the 15/30km racers passing the kids.

Looking forward to the rain stopping and the sun that is forecasted for tomorrow!

The Muskoka Loppet is on!

With the warm temperatures coming to soften the snow, we are confident that we will be able to groom for the race. However, we wish to caution racers that there are hills on the course, and weather forecasts and snow conditions could change during the course. We encourage all racers to approach the hills cautiously, race responsibly, and consider their ability level and that of other racers.

Loppet Update:
The Muskoka Loppet is tentatively a go…..there appears to be enough base and we are doing all we can to preserve it. However, we are concerned about the rain forecast for Saturday. There is still a chance we may have to cancel if the weather forecast or conditions change for the worse. If that is the case, the decision to cancel will be made on Friday. Registration deadline is Thursday midnight. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Loppet Update:
Decision on feasibility of running the Muskoka Loppet will be made on Wednesday.
Due to Sunday’s mild weather, we have lost a lot of our base. The forecast between now and next Sunday is not good. We will make a preliminary decision on Wednesday evening as to the feasibility of running the Loppet. We know how much people want to race, and we will do our very best to provide a good race experience for you if we possibly can. If we do run the Loppet, we may have to modify the course to include multiple laps of 7.5 km instead of a 15 km loop. Please continue to check our website for updates.
